A few things happen in the background, on a regular schedule, so nothing depends on someone remembering to look.

Preventive maintenance

Recurring maintenance jobs are generated automatically as they come due, based on each asset's maintenance schedule — see Scheduled maintenance & parts. No one needs to track a calendar of what's due when; the jobs simply appear, assigned and ready.

Asset value tracking

For assets that depreciate over time, their value is recalculated on a regular basis using the depreciation method configured for that asset — so financial reporting always reflects current book value without manual recalculation.

Warranty expiry

Every asset's warranty status — active, expiring soon, or expired — is kept up to date automatically. As a warranty approaches its end date, that's visible on the asset and rolled up into reporting, so replacement or renewal decisions can be made ahead of time rather than after something breaks.
